Plot Structure - The Sequence of 7
1. Exposition - introduction to the setting, characters, plot, etc. 2. Inciting Incident - first major event causing a change/problem 3. Rising Action - sequence of events following the major event 4. Climax - a major change and turning point in the story 5. Falling Action - sequence of events following the major change 6. Resolution - solution to the problem to answer the major question 7. Dénouement - all other questions are answered to tie up the story |
Example: Inside Out - Sequence of 7
1. Exposition: Meeting Riley, her parents, and her emotions. 2. Inciting Incident: The family moves from Minn. to San Francisco. 3. Rising Action: Joy/Sad. leave HQ, Bing Bong, new school, etc. 4.
